New 2018 Scott skis

A big day of skiing in Arêches-Beaufort, to try the whole new range of Scott skis next year

After the Courchevel and Meribel ski-testing days last week, we have been invited by Scott to try their skis for the next season. As usual, the American brand worked well and will bring some innovations. Everything still matches the Scott identity : all-mountain / freeride / touring that we like so much. Arêches, the temple of ski-touring and freeride was the perfect choice for this intense ski day.

Breakfast : a morning ski-tour with Superguide under our feet

We started with a nice appeitzer, going for a little ski tour with the mountain guide Hélias Millerioux. With a D+ of 600 we were happy to leave the resort with lightweight skis : Yoann chose a Superguide 88 mounted with Meidjo Telemark bindings and Seb chose Superguide 95 with low-tech bindings. We knew the skis already but the new version is once again lighter than before. Simply awesome.

The rest of the day has been intense as well with many novelties tried...

What a beautiful place to try new skis

Ski-touring is so much easier with Superguide skis under your feet

The ski-touring series

Some new All-Mountain skis : the Slight !

The successor of the Sage and Sagebrush series respond under the name of Slight. With 2 models, a 93mm underfoot and a 100mm, they will get themselves talked about ! With a Paulownia core, the skis are lightened in comparison to the predecessors. They will not lose any edgehold and stability though thanks to Carbon and Titanium layers. We can easily compare them to the old Crusade that we loved so much. But it is lightened and modernized. If one ski should represent the Scott identity, it would probably be the one.

No changes on The Ski, but why changing a ski that is great and which imposed itself in the competitve category of 50-50 all-mountain skis. You will obviously find those in our rental park next year.

The new SUV and SUW will be similar in many points to The Ski, with the same construction. They will simply be more accessible to average skiers, and also cheaper.

THE NEW SCOTT SLIGHT : 93 or 100 underfoot

It is moving in the Freeride category !

The Punisher gets a little narrower, from 110 (actually 108) to 105mm underfoot and will be constructed completely differently. It will keep the Slight standards, simply with the addition of a fiber layer, a 3D and pure-twin shape. With a weight, almost similar to the Punisher 95, Scott continues what it has done for a few years : making their skies lighter without losing the natural ease while skiing down. This Punisher 105 will also be more performant on the slopes, which is a good thing for transitions between two freeride spots. It carves pretty good and float in powder.

The Scrapper 115 is still around for big stormy days. When we take a look at what Jérémie Heitz accomplishes in his movie "The List" with those under his feet, we assume that we have one of the best freeride ski ever produced.

S1 Carbon, this new boot with a front touring-system

Its excellent 60° displacement will enable to tour with a large scale of movement. The system is now placed in the front, and it is very easy to use, we understood it straight away, it is solid and should last a long while. With 11,5° of displacement forward and 60° in total, it is truly a good idea...

In terms of fit, the last is 100mm, but with a narrow heel for good support and wider on the front part to make it more comfortable. It is a boot for experts but that can fit pretty much everyone. Well done Scott.

For a better shin comfort, the boot collar goes pretty high.

Finally, with a weight of 1330g in 26,5, thanks to Carbone, it should be pretty easy to manage long tours.

Available in flex 120, 130 (Carbon, classic liner) and 130 Carbon Pro (Carbon, leather heatmoldable liner).

Some good price-quality ratio for the goggles...

The well-know Faze is coming back with its 2.0 version, with a broad-spectrum screen (category 1 to 3), as well as silicon strap and high density foam to make it last a while. Very well vented, it is less than a 100 euros...

Scott, always loyal to what they do best

Again, Scott innovates on what it does best : Freeride, touring and All-mountain. In the main, it is dedicated to advanced skier, with powerful and lightweight skis. With its still as beautiful top sheets, in a pure Scott style, we cannot wait to make you discover next year Scott products !
