Opening of the ski area in Val Thorens on 22nd November 2025
Val Thorens: the first resort to open in France

As with every winter season, Val Thorens is among the first resorts to open its slopes to winter sports enthusiasts. Head there from this Saturday, 22nd November, to ski, enjoy the entertainment of La Grande Première, and take in a refreshing breath of mountain air!
Opening of Val Thorens and 3 Vallées ski areas
In Val Thorens, there is already plenty of snow, and the weather forecast suggests further snowfall in the coming days. Just before the opening, snow depth stands at 28 cm at the bottom of the resort and 60 cm at higher altitudes.
Therefore, conditions are ideal for skiing, and the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area (with its 74 alpine ski slopes) will be ready to welcome skiers and snowboarders from Saturday, 22/11/25, and until 03/05/26, if weather and snow coverage are good enough.
For this opening weekend, not all slopes and ski lifts we be accessible, either for safety reasons or due to snow quality. But don't worry: there will be more than enough to enjoy! Feel free to check the snow reports and the live piste map for more details.
And for those who want to take full advantage of the whole 3 Vallées area, heading towards Les Menuires, Méribel or even Courchevel, the big opening is scheduled for Saturday 6th December 2025!
